Here it is – The fifth episode of AmiRadio is on the air. This one resulted in a longer playing time, exceeding the regular one-hour episodes I’m sharing here. As we like to say in Israel – I was in my schwung (apparently “momentum” in German…) and let my spirit move with the records. The mixtape turned out to be mellower, sort of contemplative in its vibe.

שלפתי לי כותרים מגוונים באופן אקלקטי. יש לכם כאן מהכל – מ”בראס רוק” (מוסיקת רוק שמבוססת על כלי נשיפה) אל אום קולת’ום, משאנסון צרפתי אל מוסיקה ישראלית עממית, מסטראווינסקי לשנות ה-80 האפלות, וכן הלאה.

With the eclectic appeal, I pulled up diverse titles. You have it all here – Brass Rock to Oum Kalthoum, French Chanson to Israeli folklore, Stravinsky to Dark 1980s, and so forth. This genre-hopping flows really sweet when playing from start to end:
לא טרחתי לנקות את התקליטים שבחרתי לנגן במיקס הזה (כמעט שרירותית), כך שיש מעט רעשי רקע, קליקים ופיצפוצים, ואני אוהב את זה!
עכשיו אני חוזר אל השורשים – משתמש בפורמט המוסיקאלי האהוב עליי, תוך כדי זרימה של מיקס אותנטי.
יותר מזה – אני השתמשתי באחד מטייפי הסלילים שלי כדי לתעד את מיקס התקליטים, וככה השגתי שכבה נוספת של “רוויה” אנלוגית בשימוש מהירות הקלטה איטית: ככה, תדרים גבוהים ומבריקים מתעמעמים, באופן רנדומלי שכל כך טיפוסי לסוג של פורמט הטייפ הזה, במיוחד כשאני משתמש בסלילים ישנים משנות ה-60’…

After prolonged hiatus, I’m here again!
This time I finally managed to arrange what I planned a long time ago – a modest setup for vinyl mixing!
Until now all the mixtapes I’ve created and posted here were made digitally on my PC of sorts.
Now I’m coming back to the roots – using my favorite musical format for an authentic mixing flow.
More than this – I used one of my reel-to-reel recorders to document my vinyl mixings, achieving another layer of analog saturation by recording on low-speed: that way crispy higher frequencies are somewhat muffled, in the typical random way, especially when using old tape media.
I didn’t clean the records I’ve used and picked, almost randomly for the following mix so some surface noise, clicks and pops are present, and I like it!
Now I have the place and the urge to weave additional musical tapestries right out of my vinyl records collection.

After a year of absence, I’m coming back to write: This time with a new look and new format. From now on, this blog can be read in English and Hebrew and invites everyone on the globe to be part of my musical world. Last year I experienced a massive upheaval in my life as I knew until now. After a long and intense process, I moved to live with my love in the United States.
I wasn’t ready for the intense emotional experience involved with such a change. And so each time I encounter a new sight, new behaviors, the different seasons – all these raise associations to my fevered brain, and naturally, there are many appropriate soundtracks for these associations. The next mixtape ‘nugget’ features tracks that accompanied me at different times in my life, some of them at very young age, some later and some from recent weeks. Each one of them sparks something very emotional in me.
אחרי היעדרות של למעלה משנה, אני חוזר; הפעם במראה ובפורמט חדש. מעכשיו הבלוג הזה מוגש בעברית ובאנגלית – מזמין כל אחד על הכדור להיות חלק מהעולם המוסיקאלי שלי. השנה האחרונה היוותה מהפך עצום לחיים כפי שהכרתי עד עכשיו, אחרי תהליך ארוך ואינטנסיבי עברתי לחיות עם אהובי בארה”ב.
באמת שלא הייתי מוכן לחוויה הנפשית האינטנסיבית שכרוכה בשינוי כזה. וככה בכל פעם שאני נתקל במראות חדשים, בדפוסי התנהגות שונים, גוון של מזג אויר אחר – כל אלה מעלים אסוציאציות במוח הקודח שלי, ובטבעיות יש להרבה מהאסוצאציות האלה פס-קול מתאים. במיקסטייפ הבא מככבות רצועות שליוו אותי בזמנים שונים בחיים, חלקן ממש מגיל צעיר, חלקן מאוחר יותר וחלקן ממש מהשבועות האחרונים. כל אחת מהן מציתה משהו מאוד רגשי בתוכי.

OK, this time I have a sequel mixtape for the series Through the curtains. This set is dealing with musical mood and not with a genre or particular subject. Here experienced musical ears will recognize the common materials that are interesting and exciting for me. I gave my heart the option to randomly court after songs or tracks that drew my attention lately. This time I don’t have any historical, nostalgic or technical story for the music, only strong desire to share this sequence for anyone – you are most welcome to

With the last 3 years, I’m working as a music director and technician in a local radio station. Because it is a station that doesn’t occupy many live shows during the day, we have a lot of extra empty hours in which in regular times the computer use to random music and jingles or pre-recorded shows. When I had free time, I started to create my own playlists to broadcast in these open hours. And with my natural way, these playlists turned out to be extremely eclectic. So I decided to upload some of them for your pleasure:
How nice is it! The summer is here, even though, as everyone knows, the summers in Tel Aviv are not always that kind of a blessing. I, anyway, will be glad if they give them to me to enjoy as long as I can. 🙂
As I promised earlier, the pleasant series “Sunshine Voice” is here again for another refreshing nugget. Go out to the balcony, to the garden or the park with headphones on your head with this nugget playing; a glass of lemonade with ice cubes and mint leaf biting your palate.
